Hi again, I have been busy making a cover for my new journal. I used the mid year collection by Prima, of course! I loved this the moment I saw it! Had so much fun fussy cutting the butterflies etc. I love how it turned out, even though I probably could have stopped embellishing a loooong time ago hee hee. Entered in Prima PPP for October month. Thanks for looking!!
I’ve had such a hectic month being away, but I am determined to find more time for Prima!! I have been practising my lettering a LOT especially after learning so much in my Tampa workshops I was excited to add a personal touch to this journal 🙂 I am using this journal to jot ideas and wishes for our house which we have recently moved in to. Clippings, pamphlets, just whatever takes my fancy. In the small house I built on the front, I doodled the house front and added a little colour. I used something blue, cartographer and plenty of my resins! The flowers were a mix and match from my stash.. forever growing I tell you!!
Well, I have been very busy shaping up my lettering skills o”) —> Letter Love: Lesson 2 was all about creating alphabets and observing different outcomes with your own pens and styles, with your own handwriting. I find it quite simple to write in a few different ways however not nearly enough to match the total collection.. hmmm. I can say they are getting a decent workout though!!
Impatiently awaiting the arrival of Joanne’s book, I made an effort to complete the cover lol. I used Copic Markers to colour and my Microns for most of the outline. Hurry postman!
Totally made a mess of submitting my files this month, I hope this is third time lucky! Oops.
Anyhow, I wanted to use some of my favourite little products, even if they came from different collections.. I have a touch of Princess by Jodie Lee, (can you find the 2 adorable paperclips?) Cartographer, Something Blue which were all from the latest Winter CHA release. We played with these long before they were available to the public *squeal* all because I attended Art Venture!! How cool is that. I can’t express enough, if you are a Prima lover (let’s face it, who doesn’t admire the gorgeousness) then you MUST save up for this little adventure.. it is totally worth it!!
Ok, back to my PPP. I found it difficult to go GREEN with this card but I snuck enough in, I think.. This pic below is my card and below that is Prima’s inspiration board. The lady is such a pretty addition! I love her and have waited to feature this resin for ages!
Thanks for looking!
So, in a nutshell, I have been a “doodler” ALL my life.. on anything and everything! Flowers, shapes, leaves, stars and everything in between. I have always had a passion for lettering and I even found evidence of this through all my school workbooks.. I have really started to enjoy art journalling lately, so naturally I have been interested to develop my skills in this area. I have taken myself to Joanne Sharpe and one of her awesome online classes “Letter Love” I adore her work and if you get a chance, pop onto her blog here: http://joannezsharpe.blogspot.com.au
I will try and share my work here as I go as I would really love to record this process! Hopefully I will see improvements over the duration of the course. There are 29 lessons which target different skills! Geeez!!
